In 1996, following completion of a rather complex project requiring significant negotiations with regulators, an environmental attorney at a major metropolitan law office said, "your firm has always had a reputation as environmental warriors, and now I know why." We thought that was a very appropriate description of our firm. We have applied this mentality to find innovative answers to complex environmental issues on projects across the continent. From large-scale projects such as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act - Corrective Action (RCRA-CA) sites to Underground Storage Tank Closures; we strive for cost-effective and responsible closures. An example of our innovation was applied to a contentious and potentially volatile project in Indiana. Our associates used their knowledge of risk-based closures to complete the first ever risk-based RCRA-CA closure in Indiana. Further evidence is that Dragun's tank management group closed a staggering 94% of their projects using a risk-based approach, thereby avoiding long-term monitoring. Innovation for the sake of innovation is at best silly, at worst expensive. We believe innovation is important; but innovation must have as its driving force the clients' goals within the confines of responsible environmental management. Sacrificing either of these would be irresponsible.
