Site Assessment
As a result of historic operations, an
automotive supplier was required to evaluate the potential impact of lead emissions in
air in the area surrounding their properties. The projects involved
not only environmental assessment and remediation, but because the
properties included dozens of residential properties, the project
involved environmental communications and public relations.
The Dragun Corporation conducted air dispersion modeling, which
provided the basis for the investigation and subsequent remediation
efforts. The plans for the assessment and remediation (including air
monitoring) involved close scrutiny by state regulators as well as
local residents.
The Result: The Dragun Corporation managed
contractor activity that included removal and disposal of lead
impacted soil, confirmation sampling, and restoration of the yards
and landscaping at more than 20 residential properties adjacent to
two of the automotive supplier's plants. We were careful not to disturb the
residents' home life (cognizant of the activity of children, needs
of the elderly, and daily care of resident's domestic animals). In
addition to the technical and public relations aspects, The Dragun
Corporation completed the work under a very compressed schedule.
