In our August 4th blog, we mentioned some notable, and rather eye-popping, federal environmental enforcement actions this past year, including the Kerr-McGee/Anadarko Petroleum settlement in excess of $5 billion.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) goal for 2014 was to focus on “large cases that drive compliance across industries and that have a high impact on protecting public health and the environment.” And with enforcement at non-traditional, “target” companies, such as Lowe’s Home Improvement, the EPA was, indeed, focusing their efforts across a wider group of companies.
If you would like more information on EPA enforcement actions in 2014, see their December 18th news release on environmental enforcement.
In an effort to assist you in maintaining environmental compliance, we are again publishing our annual, environmental-compliance calendar for Michigan companies. We also include links to recent blogs that provide updated compliance information relating to NPDES permits and new, beneficial-use rules.
