Environmental Forensics Event Details
The groundwater is contaminated and you look responsible…but are you? Addressing contaminated groundwater can be frustrating and complicated. It’s even more frustrating when you are being “tagged” as the responsible party, when in fact, you may not be responsible or wholly responsible.Join us for a two and a half hour discussion on the basic tools of Environmental Forensics. We’ll show you how we put the jigsaw puzzle pieces together to convince Regulators and Courts on “Who done it.”
Environmental Forensics seminar agenda
Our strategy: put together a robust Conceptual Site Model (CSM) by integrating independent and complementary data into a robust CSM (Dr. Michael Sklash, P.Eng. 15 min)Environmental Forensics – The Puzzle Pieces
- First Piece: Develop a Site History (Chris Pare, P.Geo 15 min)
- Second Piece: Develop the geological framework (Chris Pare, P.Geo.
15 min) - Third Piece: Evaluate the groundwater flow (Dr. Michael Sklash, P.Eng.
15 min) - Fourth Piece: Determine what should happen to a release in the subsurface -contaminant fate and transport – (Matthew Schroeder, M.S.,
15 min) - Fifth Piece: Use groundwater models to explain the past, corroborate the current, and predict the future (Matthew Schroeder, M.S.,15 min)
- Sixth Piece: Use and abuse of fingerprinting data (Dr. Michael Sklash,
P.Eng. 15 min) - Final piece: The concept of feedback (Dr. Michael Sklash, P.Eng. 15 min)
Putting the puzzle together – Forensics case studies (Dr. Michael Sklash, P.Eng. and Matthew Schroeder, M.S. 15 min)
About the Presenters:
Dr. Michael Sklash, P.Eng. Mike is a hydrogeologist with a passion for getting things right the first time through critical analysis of the data. He also isn’t afraid to buck conventional thought, when necessary. Mike brings these two characteristics to every environmental project he touches.

Christopher Parė, P.Geo. Chris is a senior geologist who provides practical assessments of the potential fate and/or impact of chemicals in the environment. Chris combines his passion for geology and environmental consulting to find solutions for his clients.
About Dragun Corporation
For more than 25 years we have helped our clients unravel complicated groundwater contamination issues. When they were not responsible, we’ve proved it to Regulators and in Court. When partially responsible, we’ve quantified their responsibility.
